Looking back at 2008

So, some of you may recall that time I subjected you to that mash-up of the top 25 songs of 2007. Well, the 2008 version came out and it inspired me to make a slideshow of the past year, which has been my best year yet. So enjoy!

Last Night in Amherst

So, I had a small end-of-semester gathering in my room on Friday night as it might be awhile before I see anyone again and my essay wasn't about to be written either. I think I'll just post this one picture from the night and it should suffice. Gonna miss you guys!!!

DONE!

Finished my last final at 5:30 this morning. But it's done. No more. Now I can spend the next 3 weeks crazy busy trying to get ready for Spain and applying for internships for next summer. So, I found out my housing info a few days ago. I get my own apartment on the campus of the University of Salamanca! I don't know what kind of room exactly, but I will get a private bathroom and either a private or shared kitchen with one other person. Here's a floor plan!
My building kinda looks like it was built in the 70s. But its new and the inside of it is okay.

They also have these cool 360* views of the rooms in the dorm. I'll either be in a room like this, or in the Individual - Cocina Compartida: http://www.resa.es/tourVirtual/hoteles/14/Panoramica.asp

So basically, I'm really excited. I'm gonna pick my classes now and procrastinate on unpacking.

1 More Final!!!

So I just finished my physics exam. It went no better than expected. But that means I'm one class away from finishing the semester!!! Ahhh!!!

I cleaned my room when I got back and took pictures of it while it's still whole. I will miss my wonderful, wonderful room. So amazing. Best room ever. Anyway, here it is:

Fireplace and very tiny, character-adding window.

The wonderful, wonderful bed. And Jack Bauer. And the required emo poster.

Christmas-decorated mantle! And Benjamin Jr. of course.

Fireplace/window seat

The king size bed. There are an average of 3 people on it at all times. No, not in that way.

The comfy chair corner. Does not get as much use as it did in the past.

My corner desk, I'm almost never there though...

Yas and Quique are basically permanent fixtures in my room so I thought I'd include them.

So that's that. Back to work, again. I will be an expert on those Argentine gays by the end of the week though. I guess I'll be ready to go to Argentina then? Almost done with work, 3 more days.

Satellite Imagery

Today's necessary procrastination technique: Google Maps.
I will be there so soon!!! The streets are so windy and everyone has the same roof. Should I worry that this is all I know about the city I'm going to for 5 months? I should try and remedy that. Post finals, that is.

I have also discovered that it is cheaper to fly from Madrid to London than it is for me to get to Madrid in the first place. How odd. So excited. Ok, back to torque. I hate torque.

The First Post (a.k.a. Procrastination)

So. I should not be writing in this already. I should be writing the 10-15 pages I still need to write for my finals and reading a whole hell of a lot in Spanish. But procrastination never hurt anyone, right?

I cannot wait to get to Spain. It's going to be a much needed jolt in my life right now. Amherst is really freakin great and all, but I need to get away from class after class of the same work when I don't care about half of it at all. Hopefully, I'll be coming back from Spain with a more clear vision of what direction I want to take in my life, or at least what directions I'd rather not take.

There was a meeting a couple days ago about how to adjust to life abroad and all that fun stuff, and although they put up a frightening graphic that showed people spend most of their time abroad in culture shock (still don't quite buy into that), I found in very reassuring in the sense that school will not be causing me any stress in life. Now only that one little problem of trying to remember 10 years of Spanish that has seemed to slip my mind recently...

On that note, back to finals. So close, yet so very far away.
